What is Mosaic? |
Mosaic Is: Corporate Worship/Instruction"We climb mountains because they are there, and worship God because He is not." – Mignon McLaughlinMosaic is about worshiping God, we praise God in a Multi-cultural/Multi-ethnic way, we believe it’s important to be creative in our worship; we do this through prayer, music, art, and dance. Because the kingdom is a multi-cultural one, we implement different cultural styles to honor God. Mosaic is about Instruction that impacts the whole person and the community, we believe that believers should be in the world and not hiding out waiting for the second coming, at Mosaic we want to help all people be able to navigate their world for the common good for all. ![]() ![]() Mosaic Is: Spiritual Life/Life Groups"When we have inner peace, we can be at peace with those around us. When our community is in a state of peace, it can share that peace with neighboring communities." – The Dalai LamaMosaic is life group focused. At Mosaic, we want to get to know ourselves. How have we become the person we are? Where have our values and beliefs come from? How has our culture affected us? How do all of the influences in our lives affect our image of God? As we understand who we are in Christ, we become more able to meet the other and to welcome them into community. Mosaic Is: Multi-Cultural Education"The aim of education should be to teach us rather how to think, than what to think - rather to improve our minds, so as to enable us to think for ourselves, than to load the memory with thoughts of other men." – Bill BeattieEducation deals with our awareness of ourselves in a stratified society. Using the social constructions of race, ethnicity, ability, economics, gender, etc., we hope to engage in learning how we, as the church of Jesus Christ, has been divided and socialized into differential social experiences. Our hope is for St. Paul Mosaic members to have self-awareness as well as the impact of social constructions and to live out the gospel of Christ in an authentic multicultural community. ![]() ![]() Mosaic Is: Cross-Cultural Engagement""If a commission by an earthly king is considered a honor,
how can a commission by a Heavenly King be considered a sacrifice?"
